Menu Monday: What’s for dinner?

Hey everyone! I hope you are having an awesome week! If you are just joining Menu Monday  I always link my previous week’s meals up! I love pictures! It helps me remember what we ate and whether we liked or didn’t like it. Plus I love getting ideas by looking at other people’s menu’s and keeps our menu fresh and fun! This week was an ultimate fail at taking pictures of our food. Please forgive me! We did have one night that I captured our goodness. I made lasagna roll ups with leftover lasagana parts a few weeks ago and froze it. I sauteed some fresh green beans in olive oil and garlic and made some homemade garlic cheese bread. It was all amazing! Other than that we had a ton of leftovers, breakfast and other hodge podge last week. I swear MLK Jr. day through me off. Yeah, I will blame that. haha

So here’s to hoping that next week I do a better job! :)


I get asked a lot of questions about how we keep our food bill down when it comes to snacks. First off, I don’t buy fruit snacks. Ever. THESE are our fruit snacks. My kids are berry eating fools. I get them at Aldi for $1.19 a package. I also get tons of apples, bananas and pears. I try to mix it up. Seasonally we get different fruits. THESE are the nutrients I want in my kids tummy’s. NOT chemicals I can’t pronounce. I just don’t buy them. They are not a good deal. So that is our secret. LOTS of fruit in our house. :)

  1. The lasagna roll ups are a fabulous idea! The pic of your daughter with the berries is adorable.

    I’m also terrible at taking pics of my food. It’s hard to think about pulling out a camera all the time. Especially if you have other things going on.

    I agree on the fruit snacks. I also never buy Goldfish crackers because my dentist says those are two foods that are just terrible for your teeth. We can do without them.

  4. I agree with you on the snacks! I buy lots of fresh fruit and even splurge on the applesauce in pouches for healthier on the go snacks. Even though those can get pricey I know they will fill my toddler’s belly…he could eat 10 packs of fruit snacks and still be hungry.

    My kids can go through a ton of fruit and carrots. Occasionally they will even branch out to new veggies. We still eat occasional sweets, but usually they are homemade. Have a great week!

    I love lasagna! And I also keep real fruit in the house all the time. During my last grocery trip, I bought strawberries, blue berries, apples, oranges, and bananas. A lot of times out fruit goes to waste though, so I also buy fruit cups in 100% juice. I can’t stand the syrup.

  10. We eat a lot of fruit too. I think that fruit snacks are just glorified candy. Lots of carrots around here too. Your green beans look great! Thank you for hosting.
